NEW HAVEN POLICE MAKE FOUR ARRESTS AND ISSUE NUMEROUS CITATIONS DURING MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND SOBRIETY CHECKPOINTS
(5/26/2009) NEW HAVEN- On Saturday, May 23rd, the New Haven Police conducted Memorial Day sobriety checkpoints at Whalley Avenue and Jewel Street, and at State Street and James Street. Four drivers were arrested for driving under the influence:

Cromwell, CT
Eight drivers were cited for driving without a license, and fifteen other drivers were cited for various traffic violations.
The Salvation Army's "Canteen One" provided hot food and beverages for the officers working at the checkpoint. Funding for this enhanced DUI enforcement was obtained through an ongoing grant from the Transportation Safety Division of the CT Department of Transportation.
